August 9, 1952 - January 2, 2022
Beloved daughter of Frank and Joy Sutherland (both deceased), passed away peacefully with her loving husband, John Wakely by her side on January 2, 2022. Also loved and will be sadly missed by step sons, Jay (Irina) Wakely and Matthew (Michelle) Wakely. She was also an adored Gran to Ben, Victoria, and Gabe.
Wonderful sister to Susan (Dwain) Willingham, Cathy (Johnny) Belanger, Gord (Leslie) Sutherland and Peggy (Wayne) Bourne as well as a doting aunt to many nieces and nephews. Sister-in-Law to Dorothy (Richard) MacLean.
Chris also loved to travel and was able to fulfill lifetime dreams of travelling with John to New Zealand and most recently, Newfoundland.
An avid volunteer at the Daily Bread Food Bank, Chris took time to give back to her community, which she was very passionate about.
Chris was also a great cook and enjoyed sharing with others, especially during the holidays. It didn’t matter what she was celebrating, as long as family and friends were together.
Her warmth and sense of humour will be forever missed.
The family would like to thank all the medical staff at Mount Sinai Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital. Chris had great faith in the medical teams.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private funeral service will be held. For those in attendance, masks are to be worn at all times, while inside the facility.
