Suddenly on Saturday, April 7, 2012, with his children at his side in his 86th year at Centenary Hospital. Kees of West Hill beloved husband of Joyce (née Haynes). Loving father of Michael (Wonda) and Merilee (Mark). Proud and devoted Opa to Melodie, Karly and Braden de Groot, Christopher and Ashlee Santacona. Dear brother to Martina Haverkort and predeceased by Anne, Jacob, Jacoba, Derek, Jacobus, Hendrik, Cornelia and Riet. He will be lovingly missed by Bernie, Lily and Diene. Remembered with loving memories by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Kees was a pillar of the West Hill community owning the gas station at Kingston Road and Lawrence Avenue. Since 1956 he started out as a B/A Station, then Gulf and retired with Petro Canada. The family of Kees de Groot will receive friends at Giffen-Mack Scarborough Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave. E., West Hill, 416-281-6800, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Service to be held in St. Margaret's in the Pines Anglican Church on Wednesday at 11 o'clock.
