With great sadness and heavy hearts Geraldine Mary Tomlin passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026 at Seven Oaks in Scarborough. Geraldine was born on June 3rd, 1940 in Northam, Western Australia to the late Charles and Mary Jones. She is also predeceased by her older brothers Gordon (Esma) and Brian. Geraldine is survived by her husband William and her children; Jeffrey, Jennifer, David, Jedda and daughter-in-law Loredana. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren; Kaiya, Madeline, Jarrah, Merrick and Devlin, nieces; Lynette, Wendy, Sandra and Jessica and nephew Keith and their families.
In 1961 Geraldine graduated from the registered nurse program at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children in Perth, Australia. With a sense of adventure she travelled with fellow graduate and lifelong dear friend Dorothy to work at St. Luke's Hospital in New York City for a year, following which they traveled throughout the US and then worked in Galt, Ontario where she met her husband William who she married in Toronto in 1966. In 1969 the family moved to Kingston where they met many great friends. Visits from her mom and dad, and brother Brian from Australia were a highlight. Ten years later the family settled back in Toronto where Geraldine started work as a nurse in gerontology. After retiring, Geraldine and William travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and Australia/New Zealand. She also enjoyed reading, golfing (had a hole in one), shopping, line dancing, tai chi and spending time with her grandchildren. Geraldine was a bright light, devoted mother and wife, dedicated to her family and a kind hearted friend and will be deeply missed.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, Highland Creek, 200 Morrish Rd. Scarborough on Wednesday April 29 at 11:00am. Followed by a visit to St. Margaret's Cemetery, 4130 Lawrence Ave. East and soon afterwards the reception will be at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home 4115 Lawrence Ave. East.
