Herbert was born on August 19, 1934 in Weisbaden Germany. In 1958, he came to Canada and and then married Gesine Haken, also from Germany, and together they built a life in Canada, centered around family. They raised their daughter, Norma and were proud grandparents to Rachel and Cameron.
Herbert was a hardworking and dedicated man who committed to providing for his family and striving to make things better. As a self-employed man, he took great pride in his achievements and in the life he was able to build and provide for those he loved.
He will be missed by Erika Rueter, longtime friend for over 60 years, later beloved companion and wanderlust partner. Herbert was deeply loved and will be missed by his family members, Erika and her family, his CHIN Picnic friends, as well as many other friends.
Herbert leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, strong values, and a devotion to family.
Private services will be held.
