Joan Greta (Hinton) Creaser of West Hill, Ontario passed away peacefully with family at her side at St. Michael’s Hospital (Toronto, Ontario) on May 16, 2019. Joan was born on Nov. 18, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Chester and Cecile (Cormier) Hinton.
Joan will be deeply missed by her husband, Kenneth of 57 years; daughter, Colleen von Rosenstiel (Frank) of Pefferlaw Ont., son Derek (Helena) and grandchildren, Linnea and Oskar of Gothenburg, Sweden; sisters Betty (Dale) and Mae of Riverview, N.B., one niece (Karen) and four nephews (Wayne, Tim, Todd, and Stephen). She was predeceased by her parents, brother-in-law Peter, and special niece Wendi.
Joan graduated from Bathurst High School, Bathurst, N.B. in 1958. She worked for an accounting firm in Bathurst until her marriage, then moved on to Ontario to follow her husband. Her early years were spent at home enjoying her family until she returned to work with Krispack for 18 years until her retirement.
Joan and Ken with family in tow travelled to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia every summer to maintain close ties with family “back east”. She enjoyed many family camping trips with friends and in later years travel outside Canada- United States, Sweden, Western Europe and a cruise to the Caribbean. Her interests were varied including needle point, decoupage, ceramics and sewing. Joan was an avid reader. She loved her books!! She also was a very proud Canadian staying abreast of current events.
Joan attended St. Martin de Porres Church, proud member of Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 258) and was active with the Port Union and Highland Creek Seniors Group.
Meeting with her dear friends was a very important part of her life. Whether it was a luncheon, a birthday celebration, a social gathering, an exercise class or a bus trip, Joan always cherished every moment with her friends. This is the essence of Joan-living, loving and laughing. We will all miss her so much.
Family and friends are welcome to visit at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave E., Scarborough, Ontario on Wednesday July 10, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.. Funeral Service will take place at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 4179 Lawrence Ave E, Scarborough, Ontario, on Thursday July 11, 11 a.m. -12 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, it would be appreciated if a donation can be made in Joan’s name to St. Michael Hospital Foundation, a charity of your choice or donate blood at your local Canadian Blood Services Centre.
