

Joan Kelly of Westhill in Scarborough passed away on Monday May 9th, 2016. Joan was born in London, Ontario on May 22, 1924 where she lived with her parents Leslie and Hilda (Goodman) Clemance and her late sister Beverly Boyt. Joan moved to Toronto with her family as a young girl. There she completed her high school diploma and began working as a medical secretary and administrative assistant which was her main profession for the majority of her life. While working, she met and fell in love with her late husband Patrick Kelly and they married in September of 1958. The couple welcomed their only daughter Janice in March of 1961. Joan and Pat were devoted Catholics and active members of St. Martin de Porres church in Scarborough for most of their adult lives. Joan enjoyed fashion and traveling and in her later years she was a member of many bowling leagues and card clubs. Joan enjoyed being a member of the senior community at 121 Ling Rd Condo’s where she lived for many years. She was loved deeply by all her friends and family and will be greatly missed by her daughter Janice Kelly, her partner Dan Brown, her grandchildren Tanya Sperr, Amanda Jones, her husband Matthew Jones, Patrick Sperr, their father Ralph Sperr, and his partner Rita Lafreniere and her great-grandchildren Cameron Mitlikin and Emily Jones. Funeral arrangements will be held at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home at 4115 Lawrence Ave East. The viewing will be held on Sunday May 15, 2016 from 2pm-6pm and a Mass will take place on Monday May 16, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Highland Creek, 200 Morrish Rd, Scarborough, ON. at 11am followed by a lite lunch gathering back at the funeral home afterwards. In lieu of flowers the family ask that a donation in Joan Kelly’s name be made out to the CNIB.
