Kathleen Laverty

March 30th 1939 - June 7th 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Laverty, the guiding matriarch of our family, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Kathleen was born in Belfast to her beloved parents, Jimmy and Kathleen Gibney, where she spent her childhood and young adult years. It was there that she met the love of her life, John, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they immigrated to Canada with their three children, where they resided ever since and built a life together filled with love and adventure.

After decades of hard work, she wholly embraced her retirement years. After selling the family home and moving into their condo, she got to enjoy everything she loved; including spending every moment with John by her side. She loved to knit, read, swim and play bingo with the friends she made in her building, and stay up to date with her family at home in Belfast.

She is survived by her family who love her more than she will ever know: her devoted husband John; her daughter Mairead; her sons Sean and Seamus; her siblings Mairead, Paddy, Seamus, and Frank; and her grandchildren Kaitlin, Conor, Jennifer, Rory, Dylan and Courtney.

She often spoke with deep affection of her siblings who predeceased her - Terry, Brian, Kevin and Roisin - and we take comfort in the thought that they are together once again.

Visitation will take place at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 4115 Lawrence Ave East, West Hill, ON, M1E2S2, CA, on June 10, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Highland Creek, 200 Morrish Rd, Toronto, ON, M1C 1E8, CA, on June 12, 2026, from 12:15 pm to 1:15 pm.
