Born in Sandbach, Cheshire, Marilyn lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and an extraordinary zest for life. She embraced each day with strength, enthusiasm and found joy in both the simple pleasures and life's great adventures. She consistently put others before herself, always prioritizing their needs with dignity and grace.
Marilyn loved to dance and was happiest when surrounded by music, family, and friends. She had a passion for travelling, and Montserrat held a special place in her heart. Marilyn also loved gardening, playing cards, especially a game of Scoobies, and treasured quiet moments spent cuddling with her beloved cats. She had a gift for conversation and genuinely loved sitting and talking. Christmas was her favourite time of year, and she delighted in bringing her family together to celebrate with warmth, lots of laughter, and traditions that will always be remembered.
Above all, Marilyn's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife to husband Michael Thompson, a loving mother to her daughters Kimberley Thompson (Derick) and Isabelle Thompson (Larry), and her son Andrew Thompson (Dann & Bob) She was also a proud grandmother to Erika Drakes, Andrew Thompson and Blake Shackleton and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. She cherished her twin brother James Thornton (Carol and nephew Christopher) , her niece Heather Lenox (and family) and brother- in- law Bryan . She was predeceased by father James Thornton, mother Joan Thornton and sister Lesley Ridgway. Her love, kindness, and generous spirit will remain with her family always, and the memories they shared will be cherished forever.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, laughter, resilience, and joy will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have shared in her life.
A private visitation will be held in honour of Marilyn's life. The family appreciates the love, support, and kind thoughts received during this difficult time. Though she will be deeply missed, her life will continue to be celebrated and cherished by all who knew and loved her.
May she rest in peace.
