Muriel Mary Smith, (nee Hoyle) passed on in the early hours of August 17th, 2018 in her 100th year. Lovingly cared for in her latter years by her son Paul. Muriel enjoyed life to its fullest. As a 20 something, Muriel supported the war effort by fabricating munitions for General Steel Wares. Starting a family in the late forties, she was blessed with three sons: Terry, Paul and Bill and a lovely daughter, Ellen. During these years, she became an active member of St. Bartholomew’s Church. As her family grew up she procured a job at Scarborough Centenary Hospital. She was predeceased by her loving husband James (1999) and three sisters, Eileen, Rose, and Daisy. She is survived by her sister Lilian, her sons, Terry (Dale), Paul and Bill and daughter Ellen (Steven), her grandsons Derrik (Catherine), Sean, Brett, Jaron (Nadine), Adam, her granddaughter Corey (Kyle), great grandson Jaxon, and many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Dr. T. Kerlow for the compassionate care. A service will be held at 11 am at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough on Thursday, August 23 with visitation beginning at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, a donation to “Second Harvest” or a local food bank would be appreciated. Rest in peace Mom/Nanny.
