

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Ethel Johns (nee Getson) on July 18, 2026, at home surrounded by family. Sandra joins her son Ian Johns, parents Rose and Clifford Getson, her sister Bonnie Porter, sisters-in-law, Sandra Johns (Gordon), Sandra Johns (Douglas), Audrey Vlasic, her brother-in-law Howard Johns, and her parents-in-law Kenneth Johns and Muriel Johns (née Bell).
Sandra is lovingly remembered by her husband Clifford, daughter Paula, sister Joyce Spicer, cousin Ross Bird, brothers-in-laws Gordon Johns and Douglas Johns, sister-in-law Elaine Burroughs and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Sandra was born to the late Clifford Miller Getson and Rose Getson (nee Gardiner) on March 2, 1941, in the height of a Toronto snowstorm. On June 16, 1962, Sandra married the love of her life, Clifford Kenneth Johns. Together they raised two children, Paula and Ian.
Sandra had a lifelong love of sports, whether participating herself or cheering from home. She never missed watching Toronto Blue Jays baseball, curling, or golf on television.
She was a proud charter member of the Probus Club of Scarborough and the K40 Club of West Hill. During her distinguished career in public service, Sandra was also a member of both the 25-Year Club of Revenue Canada and the 25-Year Club of Canada Customs and Excise.
One of Sandra's greatest joys was travelling. She especially loved cruising and enjoyed many memorable voyages throughout the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and Hawaii. These trips brought her great happiness and created cherished memories that she often shared with family and friends.
Sandra will be remembered for her love of family, her enthusiasm for sports, her adventurous spirit, and the warmth and kindness she shared with everyone who knew her. Her memory will be treasured always.
