Elizabeth (Betty) was born on the family farm in Pendleton surrounded by lilacs and tulips. She attended a one room school house, attended church regularly, played violin and taught Sunday school. She worked at General Motors during World War II at 16 cents an hour. There she met a discharged Navy pilot, married him on her birthday in 1948. They had eight children, worked in the construction business and traveled extensively. She always welcomed many into the family, "What's One More! Everyone is welcome." They moved to Florida in 1981.. She was a videographer before it was a thing. She learned to use a computer and made cards with amusing photos everyday to send to family, friends including theirs pets; because "There's nothing in the world better than opening mailbox to find something addressed specifically for you." Elizabeth moved to her "five star hotel" at the Landing at Lake Worth in 1996 where she continued to be a jokester, ready to toast a good cheer "with lots of ice" and ready to smile and befriend, with such kindness and grace, everyone she met.
Funeral arrangements are being made at Quattlebaum Funeral Home for burial on her 102nd birthday, May 22, 2026 at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Church with interment in Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery. Our Mom lived a long fruitful happy life. In our hearts she will be missed but heaven is receiving an angel.
