Grew up with Howie in Coney Island.
Fellow classmate from Yeshiva and Lincoln high school years.

Several outings to Jahns and Shell Lanes.

Howie was very popular and well known
"as the Eddie Haskell" of Coney Island.

Just sitting here thinking of you. We first met in 1999 & had many adventures together. Working on the literature w you, speaking/presenting, sitting & talking. I thoroughly enjoyed as you said, “Dancing With The Devil.” I miss you my brother.

My heart is broken to just find this out. Your personality was so large I thought you would be here forever. After meeting you in Cortland in the early 90's I knew I had gained a special friend who had much to teach me as I started my career in the Mental health arena. Wherever you went to teach Double Trouble in Recovery you would let me know and I would meet you there. Mostly it was the Cortland area but the time we had in Alex Bay was a special weekend. I loved you dearly and you will always have such a special place in my heart. Howie you were the best. Your favorite thing to say was "but there for the Grace of God go I." I have used that slogan when working with people in dual recovery for nearly 30 years. Howie, rest your work is done. I am sure you are entertaining people and singing with the angels choir in Heaven. I will love you forever and a day Howie.  

My Dearest Howie, 
 I was just sitting here in Arizona reminiscing with my wife about some of the unforgettable and remarkable people from days gone by when working as director of psychiatric day treatment facilities. I recalled this brilliant but warm and funny guy who introduced me to the concept of DTR , which I eventually implemented in my programs. 
 I'm presently writing this memory out of a beautiful tapestry of tears and fond memories woven together from the inspiring meetings I was privileged to share with you.

I knew Howie for most of my younger years.  As he lived 2 doors down from me on W. 35th Street .  I looked at him as he was like the brother I never had .  He was sencere honest and a kind gentle soul. I loved that guy and I am truly saddened to hear about his passing..  Surely he went to heaven and I will meet up with him there.  He held a special place in my ❤️.  Truly his fried, Pattie

You were there when I started my journey and through the years we became friends, no, we became family.  We shared the goods times and supported each other through the stormy times. Oh how I will miss those in depth conversations we would have.  I will also remember your laugh. That laugh of yours was unique just like you. You are now with Larry and I can only imagine what the two of you are up to.  Howie, I will miss you but you will always be in my thoughts and in my heart.

I have known Howie since my teenage years. If you lived in Seagate, you knew everyone. We were family. Howie, was part of the Seagate life. He was a handful, to say the least. He was a phenomenal swimmer, and he sure was a challenge.  May he RIP

I have known Howie for most of my life. We were in nursery school  together in Coney Island and 30 years later in recovery. Howie was a magical presence whose energy filled a room. The world is less for his passing

I knew Howie since Kindergarten/1st Grade from Coney Island,  great guy, its was a continuing friendship because I lived in C I til I was 15Yrs  old I remember his long time job on C I Beaches and Brighton beaches,  his boss for years was Robert Fink a friend of mine, lost touch back in the 80s, I saw him in Carroll Gardens in 2000 visiting a Lifeguard friend, my sincerest condolences to you and family and friends  💔d  Coney Island Strong

Howie and I were college roommates in Louisiana in 1967-1968  I knew him from seagate in bklyn he always had a great smile and a good word for me whenever we were together ! I will always remember him as a friend who left us too soon !

as a sea gate lifeguard we always had to be  on our toes for a spontaneous drill by Howie.  he would don a bathing cap and would somehow sneak into the water and pretend to be an old woman and then slide into a 'drowning incident'.   he would catch us off guard sometimes and would immediately critique us on response time, technique and our swimming strength.   he was quite the presence and i will always remember him fondly...  he is now and forever amongst 'the grateful dead' ;  one of his favorite bands...  ayayayayayay aya!!!

Howie I loved you with all my heart and will treasure the times we spent together. Thank you for being my mentor in early recovery you were my rock. I'm sorry we did not get to see one another but look forward to our next meeting, say hello to my family for me.
