January 11, 1932 – October 7, 2025
Our beloved father, John Abate, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 93. A devoted and proud father to Maureen (Ralph), Donald (James), Janice (Dave), Theresa (Jerry), and Sharon (Joe); cherished grandfather to Chrissy, Brittany (Patrick), Matthew (Amber), Courtney, Taylor, Steven, Riley, and Joey; and adoring great-grandfather to Brea, Aurora, Mikey, and Malachi.
John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War. After his military service, he was an active member of the American Legion, Bedame Post, and the Knights of Columbus in Brooklyn. Later, he moved his family to Long Island, where he worked hard to build a successful business, owning and operating Albee Square Beverage, a Coca-Cola distribution route in downtown Brooklyn. His dedication and work ethic were unmatched, and he took great pride in serving his community.
After retiring from Coca-Cola, John and his beloved wife, Trudy, moved to Jupiter and later to North Palm Beach, Florida. He became an active member of St. Paul of the Cross Church, where he served as an usher and volunteered his time to help those in need.
He loved his family above all else—they were the heart of his world. At family gatherings, he often exclaimed, “This is the second-best day of my life! The first was the day I married your mother!”
John made an impression on everyone he met with his sharp wit, sarcastic humor, and loving nature. His laughter, stories, and larger-than-life personality will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
He now joins his beloved wife, Trudy, who predeceased him in 2003. Together again, they leave behind a legacy of love, laughter, and family.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered — truly one of a kind.
