From nephew John Alan Harrington,

Dear Aunt Mary, we are sorry for your loss.

Uncle Richard was always somebody who blew in and out while in transit to somewhere.  Even at that, it was a rare occurrence.  For me, Uncle Richard was a very charismatic man of mystery.  Most of what I knew of Uncle Richard was through my father.  When my father (John Harold Harrington) died in 2009, I had a nice long phone conversation with Richard (OK, Dick as he preferred).  He reflected on their past and life in general.  As life progresses, I am constantly reminded of that conversation and Richard’s observance that life only keeps speeding up.  Wow, was that a truism!  With that we (my wife Sue and I) began exchanging Christmas cards and letters with Aunt Mary and Dick.  They impressed us with their resilience to aging, and keeping active lives.  For us, Mary and Richard are inspirations.  So low and behold, while in Florida in 2019, I asked if we could drop by for a chat.  Aunt Mary graciously accepted the offer, and we did.  We reminisced a bit, mostly with Uncle Richard.  Aunt Mary was sharp as a tack, and we were not quite sure if she was buying into who this nephew “John Alan” was?  We had never met before, and the saying “Better late than never” was another delightful truism for us.  What a sweet couple!  We did a group selfie with these two celebrities, and only wish we could do more. 


Mrs. Mary Harrington and the entire Harrington Family.  We want to express our sincere condolences in the loss of your beloved husband, father, and grandfather Mr. Richard L. Harrington.
I personally will remain forever grateful to Mr. Harrington for giving me the chance to see if I would have an interest in being the President/CEO of Dumore Corporation. I accepted his offer on May 4, 1998. What an opportunity!
 A  Hispanic American at age 54 to lead Dumore Corporation, A Company that was established in 1913 with a rich history of engineering innovation, respect for people, built on a solid foundation of quality mindedness and above all serving our customers extremely well.
Mr. Harrington was really proud of the Dumore acquisition.
Mr. Harrington was a fair minded person, a man of strong character and treated everyone with respect.  On his occasional visits to Dumore, he loved to go out on the shop floor to chat and visit with the people doing their day to day work.
I will forever remain grateful “Mr. Harrington”.
May you rest in peace.
