West Palm Beach - Roderic (Rod) Robert Fink, 83, died peacefully in his home in West Palm Beach, Florida, on October 7th, after a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Fink was born on March 18, 1938 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to Florence and Roderic Fink. He attended William Allen High School in Allentown and Wilmington College in Ohio. For over thirty-five years, he was the principal owner, Chairman and CEO of Acme Cryogenics, Inc. a Lehigh Valley based company, that manufactured cryogenic products for the industrial gas industry. Throughout his career, Mr. Fink continually pursued additional business opportunities and acquisitions, including: Consolidated Precision Controls, Inc., Quality Cryogenics, Inc., CVI Control Valves and Medical Gas Management, Inc. In 1983, Mr. Fink and his wife, Madeline, began to split their time between the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, and West Palm Beach, Florida. In 2006, he sold Acme Cryogenics. He thereafter resided primarily in West Palm Beach, while spending summers in Avalon, New Jersey, with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Fink was a former executive committee member and President of the Compressed Gas Association (CGA), from which he was honored with a Lifetime Service Award. He was a member and past President of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC). Until his passing, he was the President of Palm Beach Food and Wine Society. He was a past Board Member for Good Shepard Hospital in Allentown and he and his wife were supporters of Kids' Sanctuary in West Palm Beach. He is remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Madeline, his daughter Kimberly (Tom) Ridgick; his son, Michael (Maggi) Fink; his daughter Nicole (Tom) Kairys; his daughter Linda (Kevin) Riley; grandchildren Michael, Alexandra, Jennifer, James, Jack, Nicholas, Aidan and Madeline; and great grandchildren Paige, Jordyn, and Jaxson. A funeral mass will be held on Friday October 15th, 1:00 pm at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 144 N. County Road, Palm Beach. A memorial service in the Lehigh Valley will be scheduled for a later date.
