Rosita (Rosie) A. Stilwell of Wellington, FL died peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 21, 2023. She was surrounded by her husband of 68 years and her four children.
Rosie was born on August 8, 1936 in Lakeland, FL to John Edward and Lucille Ennis (Durance) Allen. She is survived by her husband, The Rev. Samuel James (Jim) Stilwell, her son, Samuel James (Tad) Stilwell Jr. and his wife, Chris, as well as her three daughters, Carol Baldwin, Kimberly Still, and Laurie Cohen and her husband, Irwin. She was the proud grandmother of eight (Katie, Kenzie, Haley, Melisa, Jamie, Jes, Stuart, and Eric) and the proud great-grandmother of five (Emma, Anne Grace, Hadley, Samuel, and Abigail).
Rosie held a bachelor and a master’s degree from Loyola University Maryland. She taught at Anne Arundel Community College and provided mental health counseling to adults and teenagers. She found joy in being with family and friends and was a prolific poet. Her sense of humor and spontaneity will be greatly missed. But it is her beautiful soprano voice wafting through the aroma of the wonderful meals she lovingly prepared that will forever season and fill the hearts of those she loved.
A memorial service will be held on November 11, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Palm Beach Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Palm Beach County Food Bank.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.quattlebaumFH.com for the Stilwell family.
