A Love Story of 58 Years
Together in life and together in their final days, John Saturno (12-26-1939 – 04-26-2026) and Trudie (Noel) Saturno (09-19-1943 – 04-28-2026) left this world less than forty-eight hours apart, ending a remarkable love story that spanned fifty-eight years of marriage.
Over the years, John and Trudie built a life centered on family, hard work, and love. Their home was always filled with warmth, laughter, good food, and open doors for the people they cared about. As parents, they gave their family unwavering support, guidance, and love, setting an example through the life they shared together.
Side by side, they built their business, Saturno Glass and Mirror, from the ground up through determination, sacrifice, and pride in their work. What they created together became more than a business — it became part of their family’s legacy and continues to thrive today.
John and Trudie loved nothing more than getting in the car and “galivanting,” taking long drives together through places they loved. The Smoky Mountains — what they always called “God’s country” — held a special place in their hearts and brought them peace and happiness throughout the years.
Even in the end, they remained deeply connected. Knowing Trudie was in hospice, John did not want to be without her. He passed first, peacefully but unexpectedly, and Trudie followed less than two days later. For those who knew them, it feels fitting to think of John going ahead so he could welcome her home. Arms open, heart full — just as he had been throughout their life together.
They leave behind a family who adored them and who will carry their love, lessons, and traditions forward for generations to come. Their legacy lives not only in the years they shared, but in the way they lived — always together, always devoted to one another.
In accordance with their wishes, no memorial service will be held. Those wishing to honor their memory may donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a charity close to their hearts.
Their story lives on in the memories they created the family they built, and the enduring example of a love that lasted a lifetime.
Mom and Dad, we find peace in knowing you are together again and no longer struggling in this life, though the void you’ve left behind is immeasurable. Mom, we’d like to think Dad went ahead of you to have just enough time to “make the sauce” — just like he always did — and then he called you home so you could both share a meal with all the family and friends who’d been waiting for you. You are both loved more than words can express. Until we meet again.
