

Betty Marie (Budd) Carlson passed away on November 11, 2015 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born on September 27, 1921 to Gerald Jesse Budd and Marie Johanna (Hansen) Budd in Salt Lake City, UT. She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City, UT in 1938.
She met the love of her life LaMar “Curly” Carlson and went on her first date with him June 21, 1938. She said "From then on he was the only one I could see.” They were engaged on Christmas Eve of 1939. They were married on February 28, 1941 at Betty’s mothers and father’s house. Thomas “Tommy” Carlson was born before Curly was shipped off to war. On June 17, 1949 Betty and LaMar were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Jerry “fighter” Carlson was born in 1954 and Marla “Little Miss America” (Carlson) Johnson was born 1956. Betty and LaMar were able to celebrate their 50th golden wedding anniversary, which was something Betty really cherished. Throughout the years Betty and LaMar enjoyed participating in many Church activities, Ute Rangers, dancing, bowling, hunting, camping, and playing Canasta.
Betty will be missed dearly by her children, Tom (Sherry) Carlson, Jerry (Lyndsay) Carlson, Marla (Kelly) Johnson. She had 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, LaMar, her mother, father, siblings and grandchildren.
Services will be held at Valley View Funeral Home on November 16, 2015. The viewing will be from 12:00-1:45 and a funeral service at 2:00. Internment will be held at the Valley View Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends after the internment at the Valley View Funeral Home.
