Cherie Ann Bangerter of West Valley City, Utah passed away on August 31st 2025 at the age of 70. She was surrounded by her loving earthly family as she passed through the veil to meet her heavenly family waiting for her on the other side.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Conrad Morgan and Barbara Bradley, stepfather, Ernest (Ernie) Bradley, granddaughter, Oakley Bangerter, grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and fur babies.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Terry Bangerter, children, Jennifer (Shane), Brad (Carrie), Crystal (Erik), grandchildren, Alex, Courtney, Lexi, Sami, Braxton, Addison, Kinnley, Grayson, Ashton and Aiden, great grandchildren, Dakoda, Colton, and Daphne. Her sister, Connie (Daniel) Dever and their daughters.
Cherie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 8th, 1955 to Conrad and Barbara Morgan and grew up in South Salt Lake. During her childhood she always spoke about raising foxes in their backyard and the many fishing trips she’d take nearly every weekend to Strawberry Reservoir with her dad. She would go on to graduate from Granite High School in 1973. She lost her dad unexpectedly at the very young age of 18 and it threw her young life into a spiral. Clinging tight to her Catholic views helped her through this difficult time. She would later on be blessed with an amazing stepfather, Ernie Bradley, who took great care of her mom and helped fill the massive void left by the departure of her father. She loved her dad so much and shared happy memories through tear filled eyes quite often.
She met her feisty husband Terry Bangerter while cruising State Street and they were later married on February, 15th, 1975. They settled in West Valley City, Utah and had three children Jennifer, Bradley, and Crystal. She always mentioned how her kids were her biggest blessing in this life. She was so proud of them and the life she had built.
Cherie became a stay-at-home mom and while at home raising her own children decided to start watching other kids through a small daycare. She had found her calling and in doing so blessed multiple families lives by being a safe, reliable, and fun sitter. Many of those kids would go on to think of Cherie as their second mom. She loved being home and available for her own children and really enjoyed all her daycare kiddos throughout the years. Her daughter Crystal would eventually join her and carry on this tradition.
She was the bright spot in all of our lives and was always available to listen and offer advice or be a shoulder to cry on. She loved helping and caring for people. There were so many things she enjoyed in life, some of which included country music, concerts (especially at the State Fair), holidays, cooking/baking, eating out at Dee’s, watching movies (scary ones), hanging with her pets (she loved her animals so much), and of course shopping. She loved her shopping and when paired with the holidays, she was an unstoppable force. She had an undeniable love for everything Disney and thoroughly enjoyed her visits to Disneyland. She also loved to talk and talk for hours to anyone about anything. She genuinely had a love for people. But above all else she loved her husband, kids, grandkids, and her family more than anything. They were everything to her.
She was the planner and glue that kept the family together, planning events regularly. Holidays were nothing short of magical in her house and you could feel the spirit of each one vividly. She loved doing a second Thanksgiving dinner every year because it meant more time with family and she didn’t want anyone to miss out. She absolutely loved getting together to eat, celebrating the Superbowl, New Year’s, birthdays, Christmas, and any other reason she could think of. She was always planning something and would provide more than enough food. There were leftovers for days. She loved her grandkids and wanted to spend as much time with them as possible and even as they grew older would still plan her annual sleepover full of good food, laughter and a scary movie or two.
She was always so excited to get together with the girls to celebrate Witches Night Out as the Halloween season crept closer. Leading up to Christmas she would organize shopping dates with the girls to get a jump on Christmas but also to get out and enjoy time with her family.
In her later years, she suffered from severe arthritis but she did not let that dampen her spirit. She was happy and vibrant even through the intense pain she endured daily. She never wanted to worry anyone else or complain about her problems. She eventually had a lifesaving surgery that gave her a new lease on life but there were drawbacks. She had limitations now and a wheelchair, but that did not stop her bright spirit and even strengthened her bond with her husband and kids. Divine intervention would eventually place a handicap accessible van in her path and she was off to the races again. Freedom to go out and do those things she loved to do once more. This time with her husband in tow most of the time.
She loved Facebook, it was her window to the outside world after she faced some limitations in life. If you were her friend, consider yourself blessed. She was the most positive, upbeat person you’d ever meet on social media. Often times you’d probably get an instant message checking in on you to see how you were doing. That’s just who she was.
She was blessed with 5 more wonderful years after her surgery and she made the most out of every moment. She made it count and lived each day like it was her last. She will forever leave a hole in our hearts but will live on as one of the most kind and caring individuals that we’ve ever known. We’ll miss her calls and late-night texts telling us to sleep tight and don’t let the bed bug’s bite. We’ll miss her longs talks, warm hugs, bright smile, and contagious laugh. She truly was and angel on earth and now has transitioned to our guardian angel. She will never be forgotten and we will hold her memory tight and close forever. Until we meet again.
Love you to the moon and back!
