1951 ~ 2014
Born July 10, 1951, to Wally and Lorraine Borland in San Diego, CA. Clyde left us on February 25, 2014 after a long and courageous batter with cancer. He married Cindy Hebden Borland August 11, 1984 and enjoyed 29 happy years together. Clyde was a very compassionate and loving person who always put others before himself. Throughout his battle with cancer he never complained.
Clyde had an amazing sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes and laughing with everyone. He loved spending his spare time camping, hunting, being outdoors with family and friends, and fishing in Alaska with his best friend and brother, Floyd. He enjoyed many days watching Nascar races on TV and at the track in Phoenix and Las Vegas. Throughout his life Clyde spent time competing on dart and bowling leagues. He drove truck for 37 years and made friends everywhere he went. He frequently stopped to assist people who were stranded by the side of the road no matter what the circumstances. His neighbors always knew who to come to for home improvement assistance or to borrow a tool, earning him the nickname “McGyver”. Neighborhood kids always knew where to go to get their bike tires pumped up or a popsicle on a hot summer’s day. He received a meat smoker as a safety award from his employer which allowed him to explore a new hobby smoking meats for family, friends and neighbors. Elk hunting trips won’t be the same without his delicious meals. He was a fan of 1950’s through 1980’s country music and had a large collection of what we referred to as “Old Dead Guy Music.”
Clyde is survived by his wife Cindy; daughter, Melissa (Sid) Wood; little buddy and grandson, Dalton Wood; cousins, Floyd King and Silvia (Toa) Afo; mother, Lorraine Borland; sisters, Judy Scheronen and Alta Edwards; brother, Terry Borland; stepson, David Mertes; granddaughters, Shana and Melissa Mertes; numerous nieces, nephews, and son, Kim.
