

Debra Bringhurst Wood, 72, of Kearns, Utah, passed away on October 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Debra was born December 15, 1951, in Cedar City, Utah, the daughter of Morgan Gates Bringhurst and Joyce Beth Pollock.
Debra’s young childhood was spent in Toquerville and Cedar City, Utah. She had many fond memories with her family in beautiful Southern Utah. She moved to Kearns when she was 7, where she lived the remainder of her life. Debra graduated from Kearns High School in 1970. She was an outstanding student, graduating near the top of her class. She was known throughout her life for her exceptional memory.
Debra married Valden Jay Wood, Sr., on December 9, 1978. Debra and Valden loved square dancing, hiking, and spending time with their family. She always wanted to be a wife and mother above all else. Debra had 8 children and 16 grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Debra had so much love to share and always made those around her feel welcome.
She was a popular baby-sitter as a girl, with people sometimes booking her a year in advance. Debra worked alongside her sisters at the Frost Top in Kearns. She also made medical equipment at Deseret Pharmaceutical. Debra loved the outdoors, and always found time to appreciate the small things, like the rain and a beautiful blue sky. She was an excellent sewist, gardener, baker, and friend. She enjoyed listening to hymns and reading the scriptures. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Debra was preceded in death by her brother Evan, husband Valden, father Morgan, and mother Joyce. She is survived by her siblings Gary (Sandy), Laurel (Mike), Linda (Rubin), Kathy (Vince), and Cindy (Richard), Naomi (William), Permilia (Parley), Leroy, Lydia, Jince (Mitzi), Orval, Sarah, Bernice (Roy), Martha; children Allan (Emily), Kamie (Jameson), Nephi (E’owyn), Tammy, Timothy (Tatiana), Jenny (James), Valden Jr., and Shellie; grandchildren Logan, Clyde, Racheal, Rebecca, Morgan, Hannah, Sariah, Hunter, Emily, Ashleigh, Katelyn, Riley, Kayla, Emmett, Elijah, and Skyler.
A small viewing for family will be held October 25, 2024, at 11:00 AM-12:00 PM at Valley View Memorial Funeral Home at 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 pm. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Cemetery.
