Donald Richard Langton was born to Wirlene Langton and Mabel Marie Lehman on November 26, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and lover of western music. With his devoted children, Don faced the challenges of advanced age with humor and resilience.
As a young child, Don grew up in Modesto, California, but at age seven went to live with his grandparents in Granger, Utah, on their farm. He loved the farm, as it taught him to work hard and play hard with his many aunts and uncles. At age 18, Don was drafted in the Army, and was released due to a combat injury that occurred while training. He married LaRue Rowley on December 11, 1952; later divorced. Don worked for the United States Postal Service, receiving a special award for his excellent and dedicated service of 31 years.
Dad’s additional interests included gardening, skiing, aviation, shadow boxing, watching reruns of Seinfeld, and taking an occasional trip to Wendover. We will miss his sweet hugs, selfless and generous nature, and his dry, witty sense of humor.
He is survived by five children: Terry (Craig) Stevens, Tracy (Stan) Finn, Cindy (John) Ostlund, Sandra (Kerry) Ashby, and David (Allan) Langton; 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren (with three more on the way!); three aunts (who were more like sisters): Ruth Johnson, Cleo Barthule, and Helen (Shorland) Hunsaker.
Our family would like to thank 5 Star Home Health and Care Source for their loving attention they gave our dad these past few months.
