Gary J Blake

Gary J. Blake, 77, our loving husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away in his home December 20, 2013. Born September 4, 1936, St. George Utah to Gordon and Della Blake. Served an LDS mission in the New England States. Married Meredith Nicholson in the St. George Temple June 24, 1960. Joined the Utah National Guard serving in the 145th Field Artillery. Graduated from Brigham Young University 1961.Gary was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in numerous callings, his favorite being gospel doctrine teacher. Throughout his life Gary was the definition of hard work, even when he was young helping with his father's ranch. He had many opportunities working in the accounting and computer industries.Survived by his wife Meredith Blake; children Michael (Sheryl) Blake, Lianne (Wade) Rowsell, Kenyon (Cathy) Blake, Damond Blake, and Donnell (Kim) Blake; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sisters Marsha Lyn (Keith) Gubler, Velaine (Randy) Turnbull, Jelaine (Dave) Shrum; and sister-in-law Sharon Blake.Proceeded in death by his parents; sister Vida (Max) Albright; brother Jay Blake; and furry best friend Toby.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 24th 10 a.m. at the LDS Church, 4270 S. Falcon Street, WVC. Friends may visit the family on Monday, December 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road SLC, and Tuesday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church.
