Gary was a retired locomotive engineer for Kennecott Copper. He enjoyed shopping, road trips with his wife, fishing and hunting. He was known to help anyone out at any time.
Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Kemp; daughter Lori Wilson; son Douglas Smith and sister Beverly Blair. He is survived by sons Scott Smith and Bruce (Peggy) Smith; grandchildren Chako (Matthew), Minya, Brook, Madeline, and Hailey; great-grandchildren Kyena, Azean, Alee and Kaleb.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 31 at 3:00 PM at Valley View Memorial Park located at 4400 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Primary Children’s Hospital. The family would like to thank Shelly, Ronda, Sarah and Minya for providing special care in his time of need.
