Gordon Rex Pitkin

1937 ~ 2012

On Tuesday, December 18, 2012, my best friend and love of my life, Gordon Rex Pitkin was called home to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born August 31, 1937 in Logan, Utah, a son of Leonard Rex Pitkin and Lucille Lucherini. He married Lynne Thomassen on April 28, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple.

After attending BYU and the University of Utah, he spent the next 41 years working at Wheeler Machinery Company until he retired. Gordon had unconditional love and charity for others that showed by his actions. A devout member of the LDS Church, he served in Bishoprics, a Stake Presidency, on High Councils, and many other church callings. He had a deep testimony of the gospel and love for his Savior. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lynne; sons, Scott (Stacy) and Todd; beloved grandchildren, Jake, Mallory, Chelsea and Gerrett. He is also survived by siblings, Carol Long (Justin, TX), Linda Hargis (West Jordan, UT) and Joyce Pitkin (Dallas, TX); many nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clyde. The family would like to thank all their family, friends and neighbors for their prayers, love and support.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the River 5th Ward Chapel located at 1380 West 6785 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Ward, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
