Gregory Alan Beecher passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025. Greg was born in Ogden, Utah to Marilyn Frances (Horspool) and Robert Orman Beecher. He spent his youth conducting “scientific experiments” with his brother, Dan, and they were lucky not have blown up the garage. Greg attended Cottonwood High School where he was a good but mischievous student. In1989 he married Kathi Ricks Beecher in the Salt Lake LDS Temple beginning a history of getting her lost on dirt trails, steep cliffs and in some of the most beautiful mountains and deserts in the U.S. and other countries. He loved saying “let’s see where this road goes.”
His dream was to be an architect which he achieved by first working for Kevin Watts Architects, but he spent the happiest 27 years of his professional career at MHTN Architects where the staff was not only coworkers, but family.
The greatest joy in his life was spending time with our blended family: Alex (Megan) Staley, Laura (Jonathan) Gubler, Jeremy (Kristina) Beecher, Brittany (Scot) Vorwaller, Harmony (Christopher) Lomeli, Trey Staley and the 17 wild and crazy grandchildren who are the light of our lives. We had a great many years spent camping in the Wasatch Mountains, playing at Lagoon where he loved being Gracie’s pet grandpa and having family Easter egg hunts. One of the things he enjoyed most was the love of music and playing the guitar which he shared with his grandson, Paden, and his granddaughter, Lili.
Greg is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. Also his siblings Jodi (Jim) Stevensen, Dan (Cindy) Beecher, Karla (Dirk) Larsen, David (Robinne) Beecher, Mike (Michelle) Beecher, Russ Beecher and Beci Tennant. He is also survived by his dogs, Finley, Mishka and Nigel, and cat Esme, who will be searching the house for him for a very long time, and by Russ and Betsy Wade, the best friends a couple of idiots could ever have. Preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Karen Beecher and his grandson Gideon Staley.
Thank you, Greg, for being my bestest friend, my partner in crime and the love of my life. You gave me 37 plus years of grand adventure and I cherish every crazy minute of it. Until our next road trip…
The family would like to thank Dr, Nitin Chandramouli and his oncology team with Utah Cancer Specialists, Dr. Pramod K. Sharma, Dr, Vilija N. Avizonis and the amazing medical teams at Intermountain Medical Center for the care they gave Greg over the last seven years.
