Jack LaMar Fraser, our beloved husband, father, “Pa”, and friend passed away on March 12, 2022 in Holladay, Utah from the effects of congestive heart failure. Jack was born on March 3, 1931 in Garfield, Utah to Mildred Wilson Fraser and George L. Fraser. He graduated from Cyprus High School in 1949, and was very proud to be a Cyprus Pirate.
Jack was an outstanding 3-sport athlete where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He was selected as the All-State Quarterback in 1949, leading the Pirates to the State Championship Game. During his senior year at Cyprus, he met the love of his life, Laura Lea Naylor (Lolly). They were married in San Antonio, Texas in 1951 while Jack was serving in the Air Force. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Jack will surely be greeted on the other side by his loving wife of nearly 70 years.
Jack was a proud Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve his country. Jack was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He conversion changed his life. He served in a variety of callings, including Bishop of the Lake Ridge 3rd Ward. He loved being in the service of others, particularly the young people of his ward and community. Jack and Lolly served as temple workers for several years in the Salt Lake Temple. Jack worked as a metallurgist for Kennecott Research Center of the campus of the University of Utah. He had a passion for the game of golf and played several times a week well into his 80’s. He was an avid BYU football fan – Go Cougs!
What Jack valued above all else was his family and his sweetheart Lolly. They were inseparable. Their beautiful home in Magna, Utah was a sanctuary for them where they raised all three of their children. Jack loved to travel and vacation with Lolly, particularly Palm Springs in the winter and Lake Tahoe in the summer. All of us remember fondly Jack and Lolly parasailing in the Bahamas in their 70’s.
Jack is survived by his three children: Mike (Janet) Fraser, Taylorsville; Julie (Steve) Sandoval, West Jordan; Jodi Hutchinson, Centerville; 6 grandchildren: Garrett Fraser; Mitch (Sharon) Fraser, Saratoga Springs; Jennifer (Travis) Lim, Herriman; Alex (BreeAnn) Sandoval, Herriman; Chance (Cadie) Hutchinson, West Jordan; Sydney Hutchinson; West Jordan; and 10 great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Capri and Beau Fraser; Amelia Lolly, Frankie and Navy Fraser; Addyson Rushton and Brynnlie Lim; Korie and Tessa Sandoval.
