John was born on October 12, 1956 in Long Beach, California. His parents were John Charles and Rou Jeanne Edwards Timm. He grew up and went to school there where he graduated from Millikan High.
John loved life, he loved God and his sweet wife Glenda and his sister Lydia He very much loved his son Matthew and his grandson Sean. John had a great passion for motorcycles and cars. He could look at an engine and tell you what vehicle it belonged to. John spent many hours riding motorcycles on the trails of Southern California with his friends Steve and Randy. He spent countless hours talking about cars and motorcycles with his son.
John had a special gift of conversation and storytelling. He could and would talk to anybody. He liked to listen and help others with their problems, but mostly he would listen and not judge people for anything. He made his home an open and safe place to visit. John could definitely tell a story and he had many that he would share with others at any time. Many of us will sure miss his stories.
John claimed many professions during his life. He started at a young age mowing lawns. (His dad said it would build character.) Next John worked at the Union 76 as a service attendant. He then moved on L.A. County Sanitation District where he worked both as a mechanic and a pumping plant operator for many years until he left California and came to live in Utah. Here John worked as a mechanic, a janitor, a sous chef, a taco maker, an automotive parts person, a fry cook and his favorite was working for the clock shop. He enjoyed working with his friend Steve and enjoyed the challenge of selling service and goods there. John first met his wife Glenda while he was working as a cook for Shoney’s restaurant. They later found each other when she took a clock in for repair at the clock shop. (Always said he really cleaned her clock.)
John lived his religion as best he could. He truly was an example of love thy neighbor. He enjoyed attending church and missed being able to do that as time went by. He was so happy when he could be sealed to his Glenda in the St. George Temple for time and eternity. He is and will be so missed.
John is survived by his wife Glenda Topham Timm, sister Lydia Davison, son Matthew Timm and grandson, Sean Timm. The family would also like to recognize John’s long-time friends Steve Redmond, who was his best buddy since kindergarten, Randy Slagle who rode with him and Steve Recksiek from the clock shop.
A graveside service is set for John on December 19, 2020 at 1 PM at the Paragonah, Utah cemetery. 633 E Center Street. The family reminds you to dress warm and comfortable as Paragonah is cold and the wind usually blows.
We would like to thank the staff of Canyon Home Health for the kind and careful care that they gave to John, especially his nurse Adam. Also, special thanks to his brother-in-law Leinor for taking on so many duties and helping so much.
