Larry Dean Riggs

Larry Dean Riggs was the sixth child born to William and Edith Riggs. He spent his early years in Kearny, Nebraska, and later moved to Oklahoma during his teenage years. He graduated from Northwest Classen High School, where he focused on math and science.

Larry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, working in air-to-ground communications. After leaving the service, he moved to Salt Lake City, where he worked at Litton Industries testing airplane guidance systems. Later, he joined Graybar Electric and retired in 2003 after 34 years of service.

Larry married the love of his life, LaVon Peterson. They were married for 55 years at the time of her passing. LaVon had three daughters from a previous marriage: Char (Alan) McCuaig, DeAnn (Roger) Arnold, and Evelyn Kaye Hartley. Together, they had eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his sister, Judy Yendra (Mike) Montgomery of Gibbon, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his wife, six siblings, and three grandsons.

Funeral services for Larry will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Jordan North 3rd Ward, 4145 South 3920 West, West Valley City, Utah, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
