

1920 ~ 2014
Our beloved husband, father grandfather & great grandfather passed away on November 1, 2014. Born June 27, 1920, the third of five children to Hugh & Hannah Iva Wallace Latimer in Granger Utah, he served an LDS mission in California.
Married Virginia Bawden February 25, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and was an Army Veteran of World War II.
He was a farmer and worked at the Kennecott Refinery for over 30 years and scout master for 20 years.
Merlon loved working with his hands. He was an expert woodworker and created many family heirlooms for his children & grandchildren. Her enjoyed many activities, including , camping at Blacks Fork in the high Uintah’s, fishing, water skiing and explored much of Utah and the surrounding states with family and friends. Merlon alson enjoyed snow skiing, (started at age 60), golf (started in his 70’s) and the Utah Jazz.
He could fix almost anything and rare was the day when he wasn’t working on some project, attending to his garden or building something from scratch.
A kind and generous man who spent most of his life serving others. His greatest gift to his children & grandchildren was his time. Everyone loved to be near him and he always was surrounded with family. They all felt like they were the favorite.
He will be especially missed by his wife of 70 years, Virginia, children Dick & (Lane), Doug and (Pam), Linda and (Eddie) Gledhill, Merlene Woodland, Jana and (Chuck) Clingman, John, 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 4 great- great - grandchildren and his brother Lou. Preceded in death by his son Van and sisters LaRue, Miriam and Regene.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday November 8, 11 :00 a.m. at the Heritage ward Chapel, 4542 West Woodbury Circle (4025 South), West Valley. Viewing will be prior to the service from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Internment, Valley View Memorial Park.
