1940-2014
Nancy peacefully passed away December 18, 2014 surrounded by her family from, Dementia-Alzheimer’s. Nancy was born on August 21, 1940 in Salt Lake City Utah to Elbert Halterman and Ruthella Ann Garrick Harwood. She was the oldest daughter of six children and grew up in Salt Lake City where she graduated from South High School.
She met Mike Eichbauer as a teenager, the love of her life. They were married August 8, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised four children together in West Valley City, Utah. She was a faithful member of the LDS church and held many callings, her favorite being young women’s leader and stake camp director. She worked at Bennion Jr High School for 17 years and just loved working with kids. She had a positive impact and made life -long friendships with many of those kids and co-workers.
She was a wonderful mother who loved her family unconditionally and selflessly, always putting her family first. She loved being with family but also loved to travel, go camping, and just “go”. She hated to sit around.
She loved being with friends, bowling, cooking, crafting, collecting spoons, and playing games but most of all being a Nana to her 7 grandkids and 5 great grandkids. Mike and Nancy spent their retirement years in Holladay. She is survived by her children Bart, Michelle (Jerry) Ricketts and Becky (Darrin) Loertscher. Her grandchildren Natalie, Whitney, Samantha (Blake), Tyler, Gabrielle, Caitlin and Madeline, and her great grandchildren Michael, Mari, Lia, Sebastian and Olivia and her brothers Buddy (Donna), Gary (Stephanie) and Elray (Carol) Harwood and, sister Lynette Canty. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mike, son Mike Jr. and Sister Diana Morgan. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Carrington Court, Milcreek hospice and Haven home healthcare for the care they gave her.
