Norman John Steele

Our wonderful, beloved Daddy passed away peacefully at his home, Tuesday, December 1, 2020. He was born in Goshen, Utah on December 11, 1932 to Clarence Steele and Ethel Jasperson. He attended schools in Goshen and Payson, Utah. He graduated from Payson High School where he met the love of his life, JoAnn Bissell. They were married on December 24, 1952.

They had 6 daughters; surviving are Toni Garcia, Michele (Bruce) Pickering, Caren (Matt) Spencer, Julie (Kelly) Timmons and son-in-law, Allen Hutchinson & his beloved dog, Tank; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren & 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, Fenton; daughters: Diane Evert & Anette Steele, son-in-law, Ernie Garcia and foster-daughter, Kathi Pearson.

Daddy worked at P.I.E. from September 1953 until it closed on December 28, 1990. He was the last one to lock the gate and leave. After his retirement from P.I.E. he went to work for Inter City Delivery. In 1968 he was transferred by P.I.E. to Southern California where we lived until he was transferred back to Utah in 1974.

Daddy loved the outdoors, he loved packing a cooler and taking whoever would go with him on a spur of the moment ride in his truck, “Old Red.” He also took his dog, “Feet” & “Bosco,” who belonged to Michele & Bruce. Most of his ride destinations were the west desert. He loved that part of Utah.

Daddy, you are loved and you will be missed, but we are happy you are reunited with Mom, Diane and Anette and all your loved ones.

A graveside service will be held December 12, 2020, 2:00 pm at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
