Patricia "Teny" Laveder

She was born December 26th, 1945, to Leroy and Maudine Byers in Henderson, Nevada. Being two months premature along with her twin brother, they spent several months in the NICU where the nurses named them Teny and Tyke. She went by Teny all her life.

She was raised in Utah and graduated from Granger High School in 1964. She married her childhood sweetheart, Guy Laveder, on July 1, 1968 and recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Teny worked for Gold Strike Stamps and then for American Express for twenty years and retired from there. She and Guy moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2009, making wonderful friends through their Life Group.

Teny and Guy raised four beautiful children together, 3 sons and a daughter. That little family grew, bringing grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving and special big sister to her five siblings and to Guy’s siblings, a treasured aunt and cousin, and a faithful friend. She had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed until she cried. Being a grandma was the icing on the cake for her. She loved spending time with them, buying prizes and clothes, and watching them grow up.

Teny loved and believed in Jesus as her Savior. She had a huge capacity to love, give, and forgive because of that relationship. She was generous with her time and gifts (many hand made). She encouraged so many people through handwritten notes and cards or by planning get-togethers. She was easy to talk to and a good listener.

She is survived by her husband, Guy; Son, Bret Laveder; Daughter, Kelli Jensen (Rich); Brothers; Tyke (Patrick Byers), Clay Byers, Robert Byers (Betty); Sister, Marilyn Thiessens (Scott); Granddaughters, Tera Fillmore (Drew), Kyra Laveder, Makenzie Jensen; Grandsons; Chad Carlson (Melissa), Joshua Carlson, Nick Laveder, Mason Jensen, and Sky; Great- Grandchildren; Talon, Silas, Brighton, Harper, and Nora; Daughter-in-laws Chrissey Carlson (Greg), Chrystal Weston (Christopher, Robin, Andrew and Destiny and children); as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Grant Tanner; sons, Chad and Nick Laveder; and brother, Keith Byers.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, 1:00 pm, at Valley View Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah, 84120. Teny’s favorite color was green. Wear any shade of green in her honor. Donations can be made in her name to your local church.
