Pauline Lee Corsi Ashley passed away on June 12, 2021 in Riverton, Utah. She was born (along with her twin brother Paul) on July 20th, 1931 in Etna, Wyoming to Edith Lee and Archangelo McMenamy Corsi.
She left school in the eighth grade to help her family with their farm; she preferred the company of animals to that of other teenagers.
She married Glen Gerald Ashley on June 23, 1951 in Afton, Wyoming. They were married for 22 years when their only child, Geraldjean Ashley was born. She was an excellent wife and homemaker, who taught her daughter how to knit and crochet, how to do embroidery and cross-stitching, and most importantly, how to be a good person. She was a great cook and baker, an avid reader, and she loved music, especially gospel and religious music.
She loved animals, and seemingly always had a pet until she could no longer care for them. She fed stray cats (much to the chagrin of her apartment manager!) and our animals were always begging for attention from her whenever she visited. She believed strongly in the sanctity of every living thing, and was always willing to open her home to a new four-legged friend.
She converted to the LDS faith around 1980, and regularly attended services until she could no longer do so. She loved her few temple visits and found peace in her faith. She was always placing others’ needs before her own, in an effort to be of service to others. Even in the final months of her life, she could be seen helping other residents to their tables for dinner, and calling numbers out when they played bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, as well as all nine of her siblings: Carl L. Corsi, Frank L. Corsi, Alvin L. Corsi, Glenn L. Corsi, Mary L. Gardner, George L. Corsi, Paul L. Corsi, Jennie L. Corsi, and Nettie L. Corsi.
In recent years, she frequently asked to go home to her family, sometimes carrying pictures of her family with her as she looked for them. She loved her family most of all.
Our world is darker without her in it, but the heavens have gained a bright new star.
A viewing will be held at Valley View Memorial Funeral Home in West Valley City, Utah on Thursday, June 17th, from 6-8pm. A graveside service will be held for family and close friends at American Fork Cemetery on Friday, June 18th, at 10am.
