Wayne Fredrick McAllister, our beloved dad, grandpa, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 24 at his residence in Summit Senior Living, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing he slipped from our arms into the arms of his eternal companion, Judy.
Wayne was born with a gentle heart, a loyal spirit, and a quiet strength that carried his family through every season of life. He graduated from Granger High School, where he met the love of his life, Judy Harwood. From the moment they found each other, they built a life centered on love, faith, and unwavering devotion. Married on June 28, 1963, they raised their family side by side, creating a home filled with laughter, hard work, and deep gratitude.
Wayne lived his faith through kindness and service. As a devoted member of the LDS Church, he served in the Bishopric, as a Seventies leader, and as a Youth leader—roles he fulfilled with humility, compassion, and a sincere desire to help others feel seen and valued.
He spent his career with Mountain Fuel–Questar–Dominion, where he worked faithfully for decades. He was the kind of coworker others could count on—steady, honest, and always willing to lend a hand.
Wayne had a gift for finding joy in the things he loved. He was an enthusiastic collector of classic cars and cherished time spent camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, riding motorcycles and razors, snowmobiling, painting cars, and watching sports. These weren’t just hobbies to him—they were ways of creating memories with those he cared about. Whether he was casting a line, cruising a mountain road, or teeing off on a sunny morning, Wayne was happiest when he could share those moments with others.
He leaves behind his four devoted daughters: Julie (Lionel) Kipp, Trina (Rich) Ellis, Michelle (Mark) Wilhelmsen, and Jackie (McLane Clayburn. Wayne is also survived by 12 grandchildren Josh (Stephanie), Jessica (Michael), Cody (Kristie), Zach (Shanalee), Brayden (Jasmyn), Shontelle (Scott), Payton, Tristin, Hunter McAllister, Dillan, Chloe, McLane Jr.—and 11 great-grandchildren—Hailey, Jordyn, Kaden, Lily, Peter, Afton, Maggie, Leo, Lockland, Roxee, and Wren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.
He was preceded in death by his eternal sweetheart Judy, his parents Richard Joseph McAllister and Emily Maude Olsen, his brother Richard (Dick), and his sister Janice. We imagine a beautiful reunion taking place now, filled with love and healing.
Our family offers heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Summit Assisted Living and Ability Hospice for the tender and respectful care they provided during Wayne’s final days.
Wayne’s legacy is one of love, quiet wisdom, and the steady presence he offered throughout his life. His influence will continue to echo in the lives of all who knew him.
