I am so sorry for your loss.  I remember Bill from growing up in Rose Park but he was older than I.  Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

RIP Bill. Though I only met you a couple of times in my younger days I feel I knew you well. You were the big brother of my friend Scott. You will be greatly missed.

All though we did not know William, we have the pleasure of knowing is wonderful son Travis. Monika and I have our prayers out for all of you. God speed William.

Just like any little boy with a brother much older, I looked up to him in awe. He could run faster, throw farther and jump higher than anyone I knew. He could do anything, I just knew it! One summer when I was 7 or 8, I saved up and bought myself on of those rc  airplanes. The old kind with wires and stuff. I had no idea how to fly the thing, but I knew just the guy to teach me. Off we went to the park one saturday morning for the maiden flight. We got it started and up it went, round and round. My Big Brother looked like a pro! He started doing some tricks and disaster struck. Something broke and my plane hit the ground like a lawn dart. I was crushed, not about the plane,but the fact myBig Brother was not perfect as I was convinced. He was bummed too, and it was only a short while and I had a new plane.That was typical of my Big Brother, taking care of me. I never flew that plane, never even tried, If my Big Brother couldn't fly one, how on earth could I?

Few years later Bill was in the job corps in Idaho and I'd not seen him in a long time. Dad loaded us up in the wagon, picked up grandma and grandpa and we went to see my Big Brother. I was so excited and couldn't wait.Even tho his spare time was limited, he made time to spend with me just throwin rocks across the river, and trying to help me shoot pool with grandpa. That was one of the last times Grandpa, Dad, Bill and I had time together as just the male King clan.

Shortly after that He joined the Navy. I was so proud, he looked awesome in his dress blues. He wrote me from time to time and tell me of some of the places he had seen. He went out of his way to keep in contact with me. I was walking on clouds the days those letters would arive.

Some years later he came to my rescue for the the millionth time, I had moved to a small town in Nevada, but soon learned that small town life was not for me. I was stuck with a motorcycle and a dog. I called my Big Brother and asked for help. Without complaint or the butt chewing I deserved, he gassed his truck and came to fetch me home. The dog barked for 250 miles and it didn't faze him. He got  me home, I said thanks and that was that. He was always looking out for me one way or another and never asked anything in return. He did have a special look for me that let me know just how dumb he thought I was.

He took me fishin and huntin always with his Big Brother eye on me. I was grown by then so it was annoying, but I always came home safe. We always had a grand time on those expeditions, some of my favorite memorys of time with him.

Over the years we began calling each other "Brother King" just a little joke from our mormon up bringing Phone calls always started with Brother King Callin. I will miss that.

Sadly, I have not spoken to my BIg Brother for quite some time. I wish that I could have just one day or just 10 minutes back to be able to tell him I loved him and how important he was in my life. When I learned he was sick I was concerned but not worried. After all, this was my Big Brother who could always run faster. throw farther and jump higher than anyone I knew. It never crossed my mind that he may not win this battle. You just don't beat Bill King at anything.

My entire life, I have only seen two things that my Big Brother couldn't do.

Fly that plane and beat this illness.
