1949 ~ 2012
Our loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and friend, William “The Dog” King, 62, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2012 at home in Tooele, Utah after a short but courageous battle of lung cancer. He was born on June 14, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Janice Marie Gudmundson on August 14, 1968. He served 4 years in the US Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Lofberg as a Radio Man. “The Dog” recently retired from the Desert Chemical Depot in June 2011.
Some of his hobbies were weather-watching, wood working, hunting, fishing, decorating his yard for Christmas for all to see, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother Irene Houston, his brother Scott, wife Janice, 4 children: Becky (Jason) Bergeson, Heather (Britton) Bonella, Travis (Jessica) King, and Tracy (Dane) Sorenson; 5 granddaughters: Kiera, Kaisha, Caylee, Zephyr and Jade; 3 grandsons: Chandler, Cameron and Hunter. He is preceded in death by his son Jeffery, father LeRoy and grandparents.
“God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me.” With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away, and although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, That he only takes the best!”
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the care he received from Harmony Hospice.
Graveside services for “The Dog” will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 12:00 pm at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at Valley View Funeral Home.
