Arlene Muccia, age 70, passed away on Monday July 3, 2017 with her niece by her side and under the wonderful care of a Sanctuary Hospice nurse. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Norma Jean, step-father Joe, sister Jacque and her dogs Cisco, Brandy, Sampson, Buffy, Daisy, and Anna Bell. She is survived by her niece Cindy and her dog Shayla.
She was born on June 4th, 1947 and was the youngest of 2 siblings. While her sister married, and moved all around the western seaboard, Arlene remained a Southern California girl. If you knew Arlene, you knew she was an avid dog lover. Arlene was never married or had any children but her dogs were her kids and meant everything to her. She often found stories that pulled at your heartstrings about injured or needy dogs and was passionate about following the continued care along on social media. Some of the dogs she was most passionate about the last few years were Bruno the K9 OC police dog, Karma the wolf dog, Quai the Great, and Wrinkles McStinkles the shar-pei.
Two places of employment stood out in her life: Avco and Ceridian. Avco which was one of the best things to happen to her. Through her 20 years at Avco, co-workers became dear friends and lifelong bestie bonds were formed with people such as Lexi, Fran and Lou. It was also through her friend Chuck that she found another bestie in James. She now lays next to Lexi so they can fight and reminisce for eternity. At Ceridian, more friendships were born over her 16 years there. Arlene’s favorite form of exercise was walking. At Ceridian, a small group would walk at lunch and Arlene was known for never missing her lunchtime walks. Arlene was a very private person. Her Ceridian friends would tease her frequently that they were going to give her a hug just to get a rise out of her. Arlene was also a feisty one and was quick to throw out a quip or zinger to make people laugh. When someone would sneeze in the morning, she would say “Bless you for the day” to avoid having to repeat the sentiment throughout the day. Arlene was also known for her natural troubleshooting abilities. Her Ceridian friends would call her techie and would always seek Arlene’s help with troublesome programs or computers instead of reaching out for IT support. It was a small circle of friends from Ceridian who cared enough about Arlene to investigate her unexpected absence that fateful day in November 2016 when she was found down in her home.
The last eight months have been rough on everyone but the family wants express our thanks to her Ceridian friends for caring about Arlene. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to her besties who sacrificed so much taking care of her personal stuff and ensuring that someone visited her every day during this long ordeal.
A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday July 16, 2017 at 11:15 am at Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA. Due to extreme allergies to flowers and Arlene’s well known love for dogs, the family requests that donations be made to one of the following dog rescue support organizations. Both organizations accept donations by check or online via Credit Card by clicking the Donate button on the site. Please note a tax receipt is available upon request. It is important that in the message or memo section, the phrase “In memory of Arlene Muccia” is present.
