Pierre and I treasured Gil's friendship. He was a very good, very special person.

I'm sure I'm one of Gilberts oldest friends outside the family. We grew up together from high school on. We shared like interests as our interest in art. In high school we would talk and work for hours after school about being auto body designers.At this time Rubel and Chu had an apartment just behind St Anthony's high where we attended high school. We spent many hours talking about our dreams while working together in his second story loft. We both entered the Fisher Body auto competition for aspiring GM designers. Later, When Gil was plying the commercial art trade, we would talk about some of the work we engaged in.
I admired the simplicity of his work. He was good at everything. He would not admit it but some of his landscapes were top. And I always applauded his ability to find relations with printers who would give him spots in in their buildings for supplying them with needed artwork. I could never seem to find those kind of relationships.
But one of the most surprising things that he did was how he kept up with me even when I did not suspect it. He visited me when I was stationed in Hawaii and he was in the navy at the same time. I don't know how he found out were I was. He also, later on, showed up at our Cursillo manianitas and neither Jill nor I had any idea that he new we were making a Cursillo.
Because of commitments he had to make in his life it seemed that we could hardly get to see each other often but I know on his part he felt the same as I did, that we wanted to see each other as often as possible.
Gil, please pray for me.

Daddy we had so many memories that can't fit on this page.  The one I will keep with me always is your love of God.  You and mom instilled this in us from day one, and we will pass that on to our children. Dad, you shared with us God’s dream, of bringing His kingdom of heaven to earth, and you are now continuing that dream from heaven.  May I grow to be more like you, to love life and God the way you shared that with me.  I will love you forever!  And have fun dancing in heaven with mom :)

In all of the years that I knew your Dad what stands out the most is that he was a very gentle soul. Also, that he always had his camera, thank goodness, I am sure that he captured many memories for you with it. I know he was very proud of all of you as Maria would be too. I think you have all honored both your parents by being the honorable beautiful individuals that you are. Gil will be missed. The world needs more people like him and you are his beautiful legacy.
