To the family of Hector Aceves,

We wish to express our deepest sympathy in the loss of Hector.   There is no way to prepare for such a tragic loss, and there are no words to ease the pain.  We hope that you will find some comfort in knowing that others do care, and will be there to support you.   We have know Hector for almost two years.  He was  always friendly, when we had to occasion to speak with him, and know that family and friends will hold his memory in their hearts, forever.  God Bless.

Hector,
Day by day I think of you,
How can all of this be true?
I can't believe you're really gone,
I still can't accept it,
Even after so long.

I had the honor of meeting Hector several years ago through softball.  Truly one of the most genuine people I have ever met.  He was always there pushing his teammates to be better with his infectious competitive spirit.  If he was on your team, you were guaranteed to have a blast, along with many laughs!  I'll always smile and laugh when I reminisce about his inappropriate jokes and story of his first impressions on meeting me!  Though more importantly, Hector was a stand up guy.  He was always there for his friends and family.  He was there to talk to me and lend advice when I needed someone.  No matter what, you always knew Hector had your back.  It was beautiful to see his love for his family.  It breaks my heart thinking about what they must be going through.  Yet I know Hector will always be there looking out for them.  I am grateful for the many beautiful memories I will cherish of my friend.  Hector will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.  Thank you Hector...  

We met Hector on the softball field for WGGS with Team MadBatters. Hector would volunteer his time to help out the team during practices and games. Sometimes he would have to pitch to the girls during the game and we would tease him because he would give a bad pitch or two and strike out the girls. Through it all he would smile and joke back with us and the umpire. He gave his time to help out because that is what Hector would do. Whatever was needed he was there to help out. He encouraged the girls and was always positive and was very patient. We saw Hector a few weeks ago on opening day. He was so friendly and asking Chelsea how she was doing and how she liked pitching. Never knew that would be the last time we would chat. RIP Hector one of the good guys gone to soon but never forgotten.   Angelina and Chelsea

When Hector and Lia joined our team we instantly bonded. Hector is a great guy who was always full of life and loved to fool around.  They became much more than people who played softball with us, Hector (& Lia)became family. I have so many happy memories of him. Always batting 900 even when we lost the game! Gathering during celebration of birthdays, holidays, Super Bowl parties were always better when he was there. I will miss my “brother” always hugged goodbye and said “I love you”!

Rick and I first met Hector in Fall of 2016 through West Grove Girls Softball League.  Instantly we knew he was a genuine guy.  Always eager to help out and support the team, girls, families.  First one to jump on the field to prepare for the game.   Did not leave until clean responsibilities were taken care.  Supporting the sponsorship so our girls can have the pizza parties.  Our West Garden Grove Community will be forever changed.

In the short time that we met we became close brothers.  I am lucky to have had you in my life.  I have had some of my hardest, stomach aching laughs with you.  You never wanted the good time to end and would hang with me till the early morning hours even on a work night.  You're competitive spirit drove all around you to be better and your sense of humor and wit would keep us all around wanting more.  I treasure all my memories with you.  One of my favorite conversations is our ongoing one about how I drove an old Honda Civic when my there other nicer cars available to me.  My comeback was that it was "by choice" that I drive the Honda Civic.  Then you would smile, point to your Mercedes and say "by choice, bro".  You were also humble in being made fun of.  At one of our softball games, you had a great game.  You let us know that even though we lost you had bat .900.  I pointed out that you went 3 for 4 and asked how did you bat .900 going 3 for 4.  The laughter ensued.  Love you Hecto and the teams love you Hecto.  Always in our hearts and on our roster.

Hector and I served in the Marine Corps together. We were in the same platoon in boot camp and went to the same MOS school. We had lots of good times in those days. The stories can go on and on. Hector was a great guy and I am very sorry for his family for this loss. We were supposed to have a USMC reunion for a group of us that stayed in touch a few weeks ago but schedules did not allow that to happen.
