Janet Faye Nation Rhodes

Janet Faye Nation Rhodes was born on November 21, 1940 in Long Beach CA to Joseph Madison Nation Jr. and Ora Gladys Nation. She was a lifelong resident of Long Beach for all 81 years and a proud alumnus of Robert A. Millikan High School. She briefly attended Long Beach City College before leaving for a job with Long Beach Credit. She ultimately found her life’s career with the California Highway Patrol in 1969 as a Radio Dispatcher & Recruiting Manager, remaining there for 35 years

Jan was blessed with 2 sons during an 8-year marriage. Jeffrey Allan Rhodes born in 1962, followed by Brian Scott Rhodes in 1965. Her boys became the focus of her life as she took an active role in their various school, Scouting and Little League activities. She was a member of the PTA, Scouting Den Mother, Little League Team Mom and Snack Bar Chairman for 8 years. She lived vicariously through her kids and was a mainstay at all their events from Little League to USC Football games.

Jan was known for her protective nurturing nature, fierce loyalty and promoting the growth of others. She was directly responsible for the hiring and training of hundreds of new employees to the Highway Patrol during her tenure. Upon retirement, she returned to the church, became an avid reader of books on her Kindle, a renowned Home Shopping Network viewer, a bonafide Hallmark Christmas Movie addict and became a doting Gramma Jan, not Grandma, to her 4 grandchildren.

Jan is survived by her sons, Jeffrey and Brian Rhodes, her grandchildren Nicole Justine, Brandon Joseph, Brianna Alicia and Andrew Jacob. As well as daughter-in-law Anna Saucedo-Rhodes and granddaughter-in-law Taylor Rhodes. And numerous Highway Patrol adopted kids to mention.

A celebration of Janet's life for Janet will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary, 14801 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA 92683. Following the celebration of Janet's life will be a graveside service from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA 92683.
