With humble acceptance of God’s will, Madeleine “Mona” Francis Gerges, of Mission Viejo, CA, entered Heaven’s Paradise on Wednesday, September 29th, 2021 in Newport Beach, CA. She will be remembered by all for her compassionate heart, joyful and generous spirit, beautiful smile, and selfless character. Mona was joy, love, and warmth embodied -- always referred to as sweet, funny, loving, fearless and talented. She was an angel on earth and now an angel in heaven. Mona was devout in her faith, a true teacher and servant of God. She loved all people; many of whom she served in her fulfilling career as a social worker. She was an interior designer, an artist, a curious traveler, and lover of all of God’s wonders, creatures, and creations. She found joy daily, especially: walking on the beach, attending church, traveling with her husband, spending time with her children and grandchildren, drawing, painting, swimming, chatting with friends -- both new and old, sharing her life experiences, learning new things, and experiencing new cultures.
Mona lived 71 wonderful years on earth. She entered the world on September 5th, 1950 in Cairo, Egypt. Mona is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Makram Gerges. She was the proud and loving mother of Dina Mikhail, her husband Magdy and their children Madison and Micah; her son Daniel Gerges, his wife Sandra and their children Grace, Alexandra, and Luke; and youngest daughter Dahlia Marin, her husband James and their daughter Leila. She was a beloved sister to the late Isabel, Rashel, Cecil, the late Marcel, Angele, the late Michel, and Marlene. She is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, whom she loved deeply. Mona had many friends from all walks of life including: church, bible study groups, work, continuing education, art circles, volunteer committees, breast cancer survivors, neighbors, gym buddies, and more. She was beloved by all and though her absence will be palpable to all close to her, she will live on in the many hearts she touched.
The family will celebrate Mona's life on earth and journey to Heaven on Monday, October 11th at 12:00 pm PST at Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church (4405 W. Edinger Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92704).
