Dear Grandma,

First, I want to say Thank you!

You have been one of the most powerful influences in my life and have always been such a brilliant example to me of what a true lady is.  I can't possibly imagine what my life would have been without you always there.  Things were often times confusing for me as I was growing up, but I always knew that no matter what, come hell or high water, you would be there and that where you were, I would be safe.  You provided that comfort to me throughout my life, even when I was unaware of it.  I look back now and know that you did so much more than what any of us could ever see.

What I do know is just how much fun we had.  Cooking those fabulous meals, with candlelight and fancy dishes, even when it was just you, me & granddad, dressing up in your elegant clothes, hats & long black gloves, Rachel and I pretending that we were high society, sliding down the stairs on satin pillowcases, picnics on the beach, with the best fried chicken & potato salad known to God's green earth, playing games, feeding the ducks, picking strawberries and packing in every single ride at Disneyland from open to close, you were unstoppable.  I could go on and on.  You always made time at your house so special and you were always so generous with your time.

I know that not everyone is blessed with a Grandma like you.  You always made me feel loved for exactly who I was and you always gave us all the love and acceptance we needed.

I know why you always had such an affinity for angels, you were one yourself.  Primarily I know this because no mere mortal can grasp a casserole dish that has been cooking in a 400 degree oven for 2 hours with their bare hands.  But clearly after 92-years God was tired of sharing his prized angel with all of us and he took you home.

I know that I will see you there, your eyes bright and clear, wearing a pair of keds in a beautiful rose garden  to welcome me.

Grandma, I want you to know that I love you so very much and am grateful everyday for the blessing of you in my life.

Thank you again for everything, for every wonderful thing you have given me.
