Raymond Carl Post, a longtime figure in the Orange County, CA construction industry and a devoted family man, passed away on November 17, 2023, in Newport Beach, CA, after a brief illness. He was born on March 11, 1931, to Charles “Hap” Post and Lucille Post in Santa Ana, California.
Raymond's journey in the construction industry began early as he worked alongside his father Hap Post, and his uncle, Norman Post, at Post Brothers Construction Company. He graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1949, and later attended Santa Ana College. Raymond dedicated his entire working career to the heavy equipment construction industry. He played a substantial role in developing and grading numerous roads and subdivisions in Orange County, CA. In 1986, he retired after completing his final project; the development of their Westminster construction yard; the operations of the company continue to this day.
Raymond's personal life was full; he enjoyed his work, family, friends and great food. In the late 1950s, he met and married Sharon, his devoted wife of 63 years. Together, they built a life filled with hard work and shared passions. Raymond's diverse interests included flying, hunting, ocean fishing, hot rods, motorcycles, woodworking, and home projects. He especially enjoyed relaxing at one of the many local coffee shops with family or a friend. He had many memorable trips to his father’s ranch in El Centro, often in the company of his father, Hap.
Raymond was an aviation enthusiast and developed a passion for flying when he was young. In the early days, he and Sharon enjoyed several years of adventure with their Stearman (biplane) going to meet-ups with other aviation enthusiasts; a testament to their shared love of the skies.
Raymond is preceded in death by his father Charles "Hap" Post, his mother Lucille Post, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his granddaughter Tara. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Post, and his children Tom Post, Marianne Maciel, Diane Petersen, Dennis Post, Stephanie Post Harrison, and Christopher Post; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Services to celebrate Raymond's life will be at Westminster Memorial Park on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 12 PM; graveside service at 1:00pm, with a reception to follow.
