

Richard was born on July 31, 1945, in Long Beach, California, where he spent much of his life. He attended Jordan High School and later continued his education at Long Beach City College.
He shared a remarkable 55-year marriage with his beloved wife, Penny McKibben, whom he fondly knew as “the girl next door.” Their life together was filled with love, dedication, and family.
Richard began his career working for the City of Long Beach, where he served as a supervisor. He later went on to work for Boeing as an aircraft parts assembler, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.
He was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in the time he spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his children, Kimberly McKibben Ellis, Richard McKibben, and Catherine McKibben; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, all of whom he cherished deeply.
Richard had many interests that brought him happiness throughout his life. He loved visiting national parks, especially Yosemite and the scenic landscapes of Utah. He enjoyed watching baseball and was a loyal fan of the Los Angeles Angels. In his spare time, he found peace and fulfillment in painting, yardwork, woodworking, watching westerns, and following soccer. He also had a special bond with his beloved dog, Bella, along with family pets Daisy and Tri who were his cherished companions.
Those who knew Richard will remember him for his loving heart, his sense of humor, and his unwavering support for those around him. He was dependable, kind, and always ready to lend a helping hand.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Penny McKibben, and his brothers, Stephen and Greg McKibben.
