Ron was more than just my brother; he was my friend. My brother was truly a gift from God to our family but especially to me. Though he was born with some challenges, he lived his 76 years to the fullest. Ron showed kindness and joy to those around him. He lived his life the best he could despite facing many obstacles, including losing his eyesight. Ron taught all of us to live life to the fullest and to love unconditionally.
At the age of 7 Ron learned how to ride a bike. As a boy, he enjoyed driving go-carts, swimming, camping and weekly family gatherings with uncles, aunts, and cousins at our grandma’s house. As Ron got older, he desired to live more independently. He had many jobs throughout his life, including Goodwill Industries, Red Robin, Carl’s Jr. and he even worked at a jail. Ron had lived in several different places and met many friends along the way, eventually leading him to Royal Palms Care Home where he received great care and established some of his best relationships. When Ron started attending the Reimagine Program, he was able to talk about his day, his concerns, and his family. One of Ron’s simple joys was ordering take-out food.
Ron found love again after meeting Cathy at the Reimagine Program. Their relationship was a special kind of love and friendship.
I would love to give thanks to everyone for the wonderful love and cared they gave to my brother. He considered Fred and Gladys like family, and I am grateful for them. Ron was ready to go home to Heaven. He wanted to see Jesus and especially our dad. And though I miss him dearly, I have such great memories of him.
Ron, you left your mark on this world, probably more than we will know. It has been an honor to call you my brother.
Love, Your Sister Diane
