Born Ruth Ellen Norman in Portland, Oregon on November 25, 1937, she was the middle of five children.
Ruth graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955 and later that year, she met Jon Stephen Kaae and they married in 1957. They were married for 59 years until Jon passed in 2016.
Ruth attended National University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 1988. She worked as a teacher's aide for the Westminster School District for over 35 years. She was a member of California Chapter No. 183 of Eastern Star for more than 50 years. Ruth spent countless hours as a volunteer on various PTAs, booster clubs, Little League Boards of Directors, as a Camp Fire Girls leader and team mom of various sports teams. As a grandmother, Ruth attended nearly every game, tournament, event and performance of her six grandchildren. She loved her friends, and was especially blessed by those she met as a booster for the Marina High School Football team in the 1970s and 1980s, remaining life-long friends, and as a member of the Orange Grove Quilters Guild Friendship Group and her Community Bible Study small group.
She was generous with both her time and money to various charities and causes that were important to her. Her favorite things included studying God's word, Angels Baseball, quilting, painting, Boston Terriers, jazz, the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants. She and Jon enjoyed travelling and they visited all of the western US including Hawaii and Alaska, and she travelled to Canada, Europe and Africa. Ruth also travelled with her siblings to Kentucky where their parents met in college and to North Carolina where many cousins live.
Ruth is survived by her children Susan Davis (Timothy), Matthew Kaae (Elaine) and Adam Kaae (Coleen); grandchildren Amber Stoffel (Micah) and James Davis, Michael Wilson (Florence), Christopher Wilson, (Joey Montijo) , Amanda Kaae and Robert Kaae and great grandchildren Amani Wilson and Ahadi Wilson. She is also survived by her brother Brent Norman and sister Peggy Norman.
During the last five years of her life, Ruth attended Seabreeze Church in Huntington Beach and services will be held for her there, on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11 am. Seabreeze Church is located at 18162 Gothard Street, Huntington Beach CA 92648.
