With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Suhaila “Sue” George Khashan, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 77.
Born on April 29, 1948, in Ramallah, Palestine, Sue later moved with her family to Jordan and eventually settled in Kuwait in 1969. She met the love of her life, George Khashan, in Ramallah, and they were married on June 30, 1969. Shortly thereafter, they began building a beautiful life together. In July of 1979, Sue and George made their home in California, where together they owned and operated a successful upholstery and drapery business in Huntington Beach for over 30 years. Through hard work, determination, and integrity, they built not only a thriving business but a lasting legacy for their family.
Sue was the devoted mother of three children: Larry Khashan, Laura Khashan Atallah, and Lewis Khashan. She was also a loving mother-in-law to Leslie Khashan and Brenda Khashan. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Crystal Atallah, Salem Atallah, Gabriella Atallah Ledesma, George Atallah, George Larry Khashan, George Lewis Khashan, Victoria Khashan, and Kataleya Khashan. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Isla Mae Ledesma and a loving grandmother-in-law to Johnny Ledesma. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she would do anything for them.
In 2013, Sue received the extraordinary blessing of a heart transplant, granting her 13 additional years to create cherished memories with those she loved. She faced every challenge with remarkable courage, resilience, and grace — qualities that defined her life.
Sue will always be remembered for her strength, determination, honesty, and unwavering love. She had a kind heart and gentle spirit, yet possessed an inner strength that carried her and her family through life’s trials. She loved to sew, knit, and crochet, often making beautiful clothes, sweaters, and blankets for her family — handmade expressions of her love that will be treasured for generations.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Khashan; her parents, Saliba and Nabiha Hanna; her brothers Suhail Hanna and Wail Hanna; and her sister Suad Sarkis. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, two sisters, and six brothers, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
Sue’s life was filled with faith, love, and devotion to her family. Her greatest happiness was gathering everyone together, creating lasting memories, and surrounding them with warmth and care. We find comfort in knowing she has gained her wings and is reunited with her beloved husband, watching over us always.
Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
