Yoshiko "Yo" Kawaratani Tanaka, born March 15, 1923 in Orange, California passed away peacefully on February 21, 2017. Yo spent her childhood years in Orange County and was interned in Poston, AZ and Tule Lake, CA during World War II. She married Isamu "Sam" Tanaka in 1949 and they resided in Costa Mesa where they raised their family until his passing in 2004.
She is survived by her loving family; daughter, Kathleen (Dennis) Cherry, sons, William (Patricia Powers), and James Edward and granddaughter Denise Cherry (Jasper Sanidad); brothers Tsutomu (Atsuko) Kawaratani, Yukio (Lilian) Kawaratani; sisters, Fumiko Ozaki and Toshiko (Sam) Masumoto; sisters-in-law, Takako Kawaratani, Ikuko Kawaratani, Sadie Kawaratani, Aiko Kawaratani, and brother-in-law Yukio (Jean) Tanaka and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In honoring her wishes, private services and interment were held March 2, 2017 at Westminster Memorial.
