Arnott Godfrey Williams

20 October, 193217 April, 2021

Arnott Godfrey Williams, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away April 17, 2021 at the age of 88.

Arnott was born and raised in the Great West District southwest of Radville, SK. He married Kathleen McAuliffe, of Edmonton, AB in 1960 and they farmed in the Trossachs, SK community for over 50 years. They lived peacefully on the farm until Kathy’s passing in 2016. Eventually the need for more support brought him to Parkway Lodge in Weyburn where he was very content, enjoying the exceptional care and kindness of staff and fellow residents.

Arnott was a gentle soul who had a quiet wisdom and strength. He saw the sacred in the ordinary and had a reverence for peace, harmony and all of creation.

His conviction to “love thy neighbour” was unshakable; he taught his family patience, kindness, compassion and empathy. He was a great listener and a loving father. He also loved a good laugh and a good story.

He was very comfortable with his own company. While he loved a house full of people, it would not be unusual to notice Arnott “step away from the crowd” for some quiet time for introspection. But he also hated to see you leave, and you were always welcome with him.

Arnott is predeceased by his parents, John and Della Williams; wife Kathleen (McAuliffe) Williams; grandson Jared Schwan; sisters Dorothy (Bernard) Bouchard, Evelyn (Max) Haldane, Della Williams; sisters-in-law Agnes Williams (Lorne) and Glady Williams (Doug); brothers Bud (Olga) Williams, Earl Williams and Bill (Lynn) Williams and Allan Williams; brother-in-law Denis McAuliffe.

Arnott will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Heather (Tony) Marasse of Ottawa, ON; their daughters Elizabeth (Marc-André Favreau) & great-grandson Noah, and Jessica; son Mick (Shelly) Williams of Regina, SK and their son Ethan; daughter Jackie Schwan of Williston, ND and family, Shane (Meridith) Miller, Sherri (Mike) Hamers, and great-grandchildren Hollis and Scarlett; brothers Lorne Williams, Gordon (Kris) Williams, and Doug Williams and sister Fern (Joe) Demmans; sisters-in-law: Ida Gifkins & Kathleen McAuliffe as well as his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He leaves a legacy of love that is hard to put into words. We will miss our cowboy dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle very much.

Due to current Covid restrictions a celebration of Arnott’s life will be held at a later date when we can gather together once again.

Donations in memory of Arnott Williams may be made to Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation, PO Box 1416, Weyburn SK S4H 3J9

Heather, Mick and Jackie and families
Please accept our condolences on the loss of your father, grandfather and great grandfather. I will always remember your Dad with his big smile and readiness to sit and tell a rig story about his first crew. I stopped and had a visit with him about a year ago and brought him a Tim Hortons coffee. He seemed happy to have a visitor and really happy for the Tim Hortons coffee. I enjoyed the visit and promised him another coffee someday but Covid put an end to the visits. When the time comes to pay respects in the form of a service I hope to see you all.

Sincere sympathy to Arnott's family on the passing of your Dad and Grandpa. Our family remember him fondly as a super and patient school bus driver. The Belarus tractor was a common source of conversation and laughs for Jerry and Arnott. I loved working with your Mom. May your precious memories bring you peace.
