It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Milton (Mickey) Gordon Scheuer, beloved husband, father, uncle, great uncle and great great uncle on Friday August 18, 2023 at the age of 86, in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, surrounded by his family and close friends.
Mickey was predeceased by his parents, Jacob & Magdalena Scheuer; sisters, Freida Victoria Cook, Lydia Ottilia (Leta) Ross and Eleanor (Sally) Mildred Hillier; brothers, Edmond Christian Shire and Herold (Harry) Scheuer.
Mickey is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rose Myrna Scheuer of Weyburn, SK; daughters, Vanessa & Melanie Scheuer of Saskatoon, SK; special niece & third daughter, Donna Scheuer of Estevan, SK; brother, Rheinhold (Ronald) Howard Scheuer of Cochrane, AB as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and a wide circle of cherished friends.
Mickey was a humble man, an avid seeker of knowledge and read voraciously. He was funny with a quick wit and loved to tell jokes. There was nothing he loved more than to have coffee with friends or a beer at the legion. He would lend a helping hand to anyone. Mickey was a fixer extraordinaire and if he couldn't fix it no one could. Mickey loved a good joke and was an amazing story teller.
He thought of every stranger as a potential friend and made friends with everyone. Mickey had a heart of gold and if you were his friend you were truly blessed. When you spent time with him, you were left with your heart well hugged, a kind grin and a sparkle from his blue eyes.
As per Mickey's wishes, there will be no funeral held. A Gathering of Mickey's Family & Friends took place on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.at Cecilia's Banquet Hall & Restaurant, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. All were welcome and many came and shared their memories. Interment will take place at a later date.
Special thanks to the Angels Among Us: Donna Scheuer, Ron and Yvonne Kittleson, Roy and Judy Raines and Stella Hoffart for their kindness and support during the last month. A special thank you to Dr Mahood Baheshi and Dr Jarrod Oberkirsh, Tessa and their team, and the palliative care nurses, especially Jennifer for their kindness, compassion and care of Mickey.
